RAW
RAW Structured acrylic on canvas · 50 × 70 cm · depth 4 cm · 2025
A face sculpted from paint.
Raw is not painted so much as built. Layer upon layer of thick acrylic rises from the canvas in a true relief — turning a portrait into something closer to a bas-relief sculpture. A face in profile emerges from the surface, bold in its geometry and quiet in its gaze, looking both inward and outward at once.
Where ancient meets modern.
The work lives on a line between eras. Its simplified planes and carved contours echo early cubism; its earthy palette and ritual stillness carry the weight of something far older — a Cycladic idol, a tribal mask, a figure from a myth we half-remember. Old and new meet without friction. That is the quiet power of the piece.
The surface is worked by hand with palette knife and brush, leaving every gesture visible. Nothing is hidden, nothing is smoothed over. Hence the name: Raw.
What it brings to a space.
At 50 × 70 cm, Raw is intimate rather than monumental — perfect for a reading corner, a bedroom, a hallway, or as part of a curated gallery wall. In minimalist interiors it adds soul and warmth; in layered, textured spaces it becomes a quiet anchor. It works beautifully alongside natural materials: oak, linen, stone, ceramic.
